Play Geometry Dash Online for Free
Geometry Dash is a rhythm platformer made by Swedish developer Robert Topala, known as RobTop. It came out on iOS and Android on 13 August 2013. You guide a small cube through levels where every jump lines up with the music.
The full game is sold on Steam, the App Store and Google Play. If you want that style of play for free in your browser, Dash Rush is our own take on it. It runs here with no download, no account and no ads. This guide explains how the original works, which versions exist, and how to get started in Dash Rush.

How Geometry Dash gameplay works
Your icon moves forward on its own. You only control when it jumps or flies. One touch of a spike or the side of a block ends the run, and the level starts again. The game counts every try as an attempt.
That loop is the whole hook. Each attempt teaches you a little more of the route. The music helps, because most obstacles land on the beat.
A few systems sit on top of that core:
- Practice mode lets you place checkpoints, so you can train a hard part without replaying the start.
- Secret coins hide in harder spots. In the full game, three official Demon levels unlock only after you collect enough of them.
- Platformer mode arrived in version 2.2. Here you also move left and right, instead of scrolling automatically.
- The level editor lets players build and share their own stages. It is part of the paid game, not Lite.
Game modes and portals
Portals change how your icon moves in the middle of a level. The full game has eight modes, added one by one over its updates. Dash Rush uses three of them, plus speed and gravity portals.
| Mode | How it moves | Added in | In Dash Rush |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cube | Fixed jump on each tap, falls fast | 1.0 (2013) | Yes |
| Ship | Rises while you hold, sinks when you let go | 1.0 (2013) | Yes |
| Ball | Flips gravity when it touches a surface | 1.2 | No |
| UFO | Small hop on each tap, falls slowly | 1.5 | No |
| Wave | Moves in straight diagonal lines | 1.9 | No |
| Robot | Jumps higher the longer you hold | 2.0 | No |
| Spider | Snaps to the opposite surface instantly | 2.1 | No |
| Swing | Flips gravity in midair on each tap | 2.2 (2023) | No |
Other portals change the rules instead of the mode. Gravity portals flip you onto the ceiling. Speed portals push you faster or slower. The original also has size, mirror and dual portals. In Dash Rush, a yellow portal flips gravity, a blue one brings you back down, and an orange arrow speeds you up.
Versions and history of Geometry Dash
RobTop released one paid game and four free editions. The free ones show ads and carry fewer features.
| Release | Version | What it offers |
|---|---|---|
| 19 Dec 2023 | Update 2.2 | Platformer mode, the swing, a bigger editor, over 1,500 licensed music tracks |
| 21 Dec 2017 | SubZero (free) | 3 levels with music by MDK, Bossfight and BoomKitty |
| 21 Dec 2016 | World (free) | 2 worlds of 5 short levels each |
| 19 Dec 2015 | Meltdown (free) | 3 levels with music by F-777 |
| 22 Dec 2014 | PC release | The full game on Windows and macOS through Steam |
| 13 Aug 2013 | Full game and Lite | Lite is free with main levels 1 to 19, but no level editor |
Update 2.2 took more than six years to finish. On launch it pushed Steam to a peak of about 80,000 players at once.
Difficulty ratings and the hardest level
Official levels use six difficulty ratings: Easy, Normal, Hard, Harder, Insane and Demon. The three official Demon levels stay locked until you collect enough secret coins.
The hardest stages are not official ones. Players build them in the editor and rank them on the Pointercrate Demonlist. A volunteer group called the Demonlist Team runs that ranking after talking with top players. RobTop does not manage it.
As of October 2026, the community wiki lists GRIEF by icedcave at number one. This changes whenever a harder level gets verified, so check the live list before you quote it.
How to play Geometry Dash style levels free in Dash Rush
Dash Rush is an original game, not a copy of RobTop’s levels or music. It plays in any modern browser on a computer, tablet or phone. Press the Play button at the top of this page to start.
| Action | Computer | Phone or tablet |
|---|---|---|
| Jump or fly up | Space, Up arrow, W or left click | Tap the screen |
| Keep jumping | Hold the key | Keep your finger down |
| Pause | Esc or P | Pause button |
| Restart | R | Pause, then Restart |
| Practice checkpoint | Z to place, X to remove | On screen buttons |
The game has 20 levels, from First Light (Easy) to Omega Core (Demon). Each one has its own music, colors and background. Every level hides 3 secret coins, 60 in total. Coins count only when you finish the level in normal mode.
Practice mode works like the original. You place checkpoints and restart from the last one. There is also a respawn option, shown as a circle arrow next to Practice. With it on, practice runs restart right where you crashed. Practice runs never give stars or coins.
Beyond the levels, there is a new Daily Challenge every day, worth 5 bonus coins. Endless Run keeps getting harder the farther you go. Your best scores, stars and coins save in your browser automatically.
Tips that help on hard levels
These work in RobTop’s game and in Dash Rush, since both share the same one button timing.
- Play with sound on. Most jumps fall on the beat. After a few attempts, the music tells you when to press.
- Jump slightly early for spike rows. Two or three spikes in a row need you to leave the ground just before the first one.
- Tap, do not hold, in the ship. Long holds slam you into the ceiling. Short taps keep the ship level.
- Read the portal color early. In Dash Rush, pink means ship, cyan means cube, yellow flips gravity and orange speeds you up.
- Place checkpoints on flat ground. A checkpoint saved in midair can drop you straight into a spike.
- Beat your mark, not the level. The thin white line on the progress bar shows your best run. Aim to pass it by a little each time.
- Take short breaks. If you crash at the same spot ten times, stop for a minute. Tired hands mistime jumps.
Is it safe for kids and school computers?
Common Sense Media rates the original 8+. It notes very little violence: your icon just breaks apart and the level restarts. The App Store lists it as 13+ and flags chat, user made content and social features. Some parents in those reviews warn that a few user levels have themes not meant for young kids.
Dash Rush avoids those risks by design. It has no chat, no user made levels, no accounts and no ads inside the game. A leaderboard name is optional and only shows on the score lists.
For players sensitive to light, Settings has a Reduce flashing switch. It removes the white flash when you crash. On school or work computers, the game needs only a browser, so nothing gets installed.
